    I have to say, I've done a good deal of reading on both tachyons and dark energy and it seems the properties of both are very similar in their descriptions. Quarks can take on six types of flavors, and yes, they're actually called flavors. This force explained why nuclei did not disintegrate under the influence of proton repulsion, and it also gave an explanation of why the attractive strong force had a more limited range than the electromagnetic repulsion between protons.
